Stars
We are all somehow interlinked , planets, moons, , sun, stars…. didnt we all come from one big bang? Or is that an urban legend … who knows
What I do know is that astronomy plays a big part in who we are . Ancient peoples would navigate using the stars , using it as their sky map , moving about the water or land to find refuge or food sources, or new islands to conquer. They looked to the skies for answers , a tradition we still do now… maybe not so much for navigation day to day ( good old sat nav is here in 2022) but for answers about our ancestory or answers about what is out there beyond our solar system. We look to the sky for answers about life , taking solitary in moments to wonder what is out there in a physical and a rhetorical sense.
We also look to the sky for hope
Hope in that our loved ones are safe, or
…if like me you like to think loved ones passed are looking down upon us. And hope you see a glimmer or a flash that they are acknowledging our wonder and watching over us. Praying for a shooting star ….
I saw a shooting star the night of my Nannas funeral , Ive never seen one since , it was really amazing , and it made me feel hope. She was watching over us.
From being little my dad used to love – still does – star gazing . On a summers night we would sit out and watch the first stars appear its quite magical really and we would look out for certain constellations. Did you know the constellation of Orion, it points to the brightest star in the sky… Sirius . It was one of the first things I learnt, and its one of the things me and my daughter love to do now. Shes 5 and can find where he is . Brilliant !
I think its all these things that make me feel strongly connected to the stars and the night sky, and all the different planets and the vast great space out there it just fascinates me . OH and not forgetting our marvelous MOON .
SELINA… thats me goddess of the moon… well its SELENE but im taking that ha.
So thats probably where my obsession with making star jewellery has come from.
